Windows applications create and place several files on your hard drive for temporarily storing data. When an application terminates it should remove these files. Often these files remain on your computer because of program errors, sloppy architecture, improper system shutdown or another application locks up and crashes your system.
It is important to know that any file which is left behind in this manner will remain on your system unless you search for it and manually remove it. These files are fairly small and you may not notice they are even there. Over time these junk/obsolete files can accumulate to megabytes, sometimes gigabytes, of wasted hard drive space and potentially be the cause of system errors if not properly cleaned from your hard drive on a regular basis.
Signs that indicate your system is suffering from junk/obsolete files include, but are not limited to:
* Lost data.
* Cross-linked drive references.
* Sudden application lockups.
* Fatal errors in your applications.
* Virus-like behavior.
* Mysterious reboots.
Giant Disk Cleaner is especially designed to target these types of junk/obsolete files which are often overlooked by common disk utilities like uninstaller, defrag, scandisk, etc.
